The Capital of Golf between Four Capitals
Since prehistoric times, Man has been drawn to places with a spirit of majesty. Time has changed landscapes, glaciers have left their mark – here, the resulting land formations are ideal for a golf course. We introduce you to a territory that is now the State-protected Pipiriškės geo-morphological park.
Between the Zapurvis and the Pasamanė lakes, archeologists have found the remains of a 3rd century A.D. village next to the Juodakalnis man-made hill. All four historical capitals of Lithuania – Kernavė, Trakai, Kaunas and Vilnius – were established about the same distance from this fascinating, impressive patch of land surrounded by the rolling region of Aukštaitija, with a scent of pine forests in the nearby Dzūkija region. Envision the dukes and barons of Kernavė or Trakai together with their hunting parties pursuing boars, bison, and elk on these grounds.
Walking and surveying these rolling hills, fields, and friendly glens, we tried to imagine how Lithuanian and international golfers would enjoy this miracle of Nature.


Opening of the Capitals Golf Club
In autumn, 2005 the first 9 golf course holes were opened. On 6th of July, 2006 was a solemn opening of the house of the Capitals golf club and 18 holes course. This date is considered to be a birthday of the Capitals golf club. The Capitals golf Club is the first professional 18 holes golf course in Lithuania.


Activities of the Capitals Golf Club
Since the golf season of 2006, The Capitals Golf Club began to establish not only the golf club’s traditions but also the golf traditions of Lithuania. During its first year, the club organized over 30 tournaments and 250 events. Not a small number of members – sold almost 200 memberships – was garnered till the first club’s birthday. Since 2006, the new generation of golf players is growing in the children academy “Pipiras” of The Capitals Golf Club. A children’s golf encampment was organized in the summer of 2007. More and more women come to the golf course, in 2006 they have established the “women club”. The club members gather once a week, play golf, share impressions and spend some nice time in the restaurant located in the house of the club. In the winter of 2006-2007, the skiing trails were installed in the course, it is planned to install them every year, according to the weather conditions.

Achievement
The Capitals golf club was elected by USA journal “Golf INC” as the best project of 2007 in the international division (all the world except USA). The project left behind grandees as Punta Espada golf club in the Republic of Dominica designed by Jack Nicklaus, and the Mission Hills course in China by Pete Dye.
