Lapland Lake

Lapland Lake, Inc. was founded more than 30 years ago by former U.S. Olympic cross country skier Olavi Hirvonen and his family. Olavi’s wish was to create a four-season vacation center with Adirondack cabins for rent, reminiscent of Finnish Lapland. Nestled against the stunning backdrop of the 6-million acre Adirondack Preserve, Lapland Lake offers a simple and serene setting where family and friends gather for recreation and relaxation and are able to reconnect in a truly fundamental way so often missing in today’s harried times. This very special place enables guests an opportunity to experience the gentle wonders of nature in a warmly hospitable Scandinavian atmosphere. We hope all who visit take with them many lasting memories of magical moments. And it is our hope they will return again and again.

During the spring, summer and fall seasons, Lapland Lake's facilities are available exclusively for the use of our overnight guests. 70-acre spring-fed Woods Lake boasts a lovely private sandy beach with superb swimming, canoeing, kayaking, row-boating and fishing. The absence of motors and virtually undeveloped shorelines provide a tranquil setting inviting to loons, ducks, beaver, herons and kingfisher. Forests of hardwood and pine, mountain streams and wildlife sightings offer guests a unique opportunity to interact with our natural environment. Biking and hiking are popular pursuits.

During the winter months, whether you come just for a day visit or wish to savor the atmosphere with a longer stay in one of our cozy tupas (Adirondack cabins), you will find Lapland Lake a special place to be. Abundant natural snowfalls combined with impeccable grooming performed with state-of-the-art equipment including a powerful 2010 Prinoth Husky Snowcat ensures cross country skiers a superb winter experience. Expertly designed trails appeal to all skiers from novices to experts, using classical or skating techniques. Day visitors and Adirondack lodging guests alike also delight in snowshoeing, ice-skating, tubing, sledding and kicksledding along with special events throughout the winter season.
