Our product range has expanded significantly since we first offered trips to Nepal and India in the 70's. We now cover all continents, with trips ranging from adventure touring to introductory trekking and cycling adventures, to sea kayaking and mountaineering trips.

We have earned this reputation through the unique experiences that we provide in the field, through our environmental philosophy of minimal impact travel, and for the very special quality of giving something back to the communities we visit.

World Expeditions is seriously committed to true sustainability. Our experience in pioneering adventure travel has shown us the positive conservation outcomes when travel is managed for sustainability. It is long-term vision that can deliver true sustainability and with the participation of all our clients and business partners the challenge is being met and achieved.

An example of this commitment to sustainability has been our efforts to preserve the forests of Nepal. This has involved changing an entrenched culture of burning wood for fuel. World Expeditions has pioneered the change to kerosene as an alternative to wood on all trekking expeditions in Nepal. We do not have camp fires and we strongly discourage trekkers from buying wood-fueled hot showers in lodges along the trail. We also lead the way in porter protection, with many programs to ensure these poor and disadvantaged workers benefit from fair and safe employment conditions.

In recognition of our environmental policies, we are the only travel company ever to be fully endorsed by the Wilderness Society of Australia. In 2001 we received the National Travel Industry's Environmental Achievement Award, presented by the WWF, for our Responsible Travel Guidebook. In 2006 we were Highly Commended in the "Best in a Mountain Environment" at the Responsible Travel Awards and in 2008 we were awarded the inaugural Leadership Award at the Responsible Travel & Tourism Forum in Canada.
