Yeah, so far so good! Somehow our trusty steed has made it to Budapest with absolutely nothing wrong with the car yet. Couple of things have fallen off and the flapping broken soft top is deafening on the motorways, but we soon realised that a... Read full post...

Introducing Czech Republic (Continued...)

Cultural

The Czech Republic boasts a dozen Unesco world cultural heritage sites. This truly is a nation renowned for its grand architectural traditions. Prague is famed for incorporating a great range of styles, including Romanesque rotundas, Gothic towers, and Renaissance burgher houses, to name a few.
After some arduous activity, why not unwind in one of the thermal springs in the many beautiful spa towns? Visitors can lie back and take in the culture, or stroll around some of the grandiose castles, churches and monasteries on offer.

Multi-Activity

To combine culture and an extreme adrenaline rush, why not take a visit to Prague followed by a sky-diving trip? Affordable tandem jumps are offered in the Mácha region close to the capital. The experienced guides offer the chance for thrill-seekers to participate in solo free-fall as well as tandem jumps.

Scenic flights may also be taken over the Mácha region. Those wishing to remain in the passenger seat can enjoy splendid views of the river Vlata and the Mácha lake, as well as the monuments of Bezděz, and the ruins of Trotsky castle. Alternatively, combine a tandem jump near the town of Kunovic in the south with a ride on the Eurovelo cycle route, which joins close to Brno.

Cycling

The cycle-friendly network of Eurovelo connects various tourist destinations and landmarks throughout the Czech Republic. The more adventurous cyclist can join the Moravia trail along the foothills of the Jeseníky mountain range. The trail meanders along the river Morava and stretches as far as the Austrian border to the south.

The Moravian wine trail keeps close to the borders of Germany and Slovakia and connects the city of Znojmo with Uherské Hradiště in the south east. Take a ride through the numerous vineyards and gardens of lower Moravia. There are stunning views to enjoy, and plenty of opportunities to sample some of the local produce after a long day's peddling.

Paintballing

Just ten minutes from the centre of Prague, the Alcatraz Arena has both indoor and outdoor grounds for a truly exciting paintballing session - the location is a real draw for those wishing to combine city breaks and adventure activities.

Further north of the capital lies the historically significant town of Terezín. Battle lines are drawn in a former military compound with a spacious outdoor arena, promising a more authentic paintballing experience. Equipment is loaned for free at this venue, which allows visitors to immerse themselves in the site's military history.

Rock Climbing

The Czech Republic’s mountain ranges form natural boundaries with its neighbouring countries. Thanks to the varied topography, climbers of all standards can make the best of great routes, never running out of challenges.

For the ultimate combination of adventure and historical sightseeing, climb below the Rabštejn castle in the Jeseníky mountain range. The Rabštejn cliff tops 800m, and the viewing point is accessed via a wooden ladder in a crack in the rock face. The views of the Jeseníky mountains and the lush Hana plains make the effort worthwhile. Two practice walls add to the destination’s serious rock climbing credentials.

Skydiving

Sky-diving offers dare-devils of all levels and experience the possibility of tandem descents, as well as solo free-fall flights. Slovácký Aeroklub employs Kunovice airport as its base, located only thirty miles outside Brno. Guided by a tandem pilot, you will fall at speeds of up to 200km per hour. While easing back to earth post-parachute, enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the South Moravian countryside. The proximity to Brno, (the second largest city in the Czech Republic) makes this a particularly appealing destination.
