Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is the highest and largest commune in France. Situated near the massive peaks of Aiguilles Rouges, Chamonix is home to the summit of Mont Blanc. At a height of 4,810m, the mountain is the highest European mountain west of Russia. This is a location for the seriously adventurous. Once described as the ‘death-sport capital’, it is a base for all types of outdoor activity.
