There are thrill-seeking downhill mountain bike descents, rock climbing, canyoning, donkey trails, fishing and archery. Let’s not forget there are also several spas; Val D’Isere can provide a relaxing detox holiday, as well as it can an adrenaline-fuelled powder fest.
This adventure playground is probably one of the most beautiful ski resorts in the world. The lake that can be seen at the end of the valley on your descent is picture perfect, as is town's rustic alpine architecture. Chambery airport is the closest - around two-and-a-half hours' drive from the resort on a good day. Geneva Lyon and Grenoble are all also relatively close, and at a stretch you could even try Turin or St. Etienne. You can also get the train most of the way to the resort, with Bourg Saint Maurice station found only about 30km, and a short taxi drive away.
