Once airborne the pilot lies facing forward in the harness and can remain in the air soaring effortlessly by for hours by using thermals and air currents.

Hang gliding is a world wide sport with many clubs and associations and is predominantly carried out on hills or mountains with the correct prevailing winds with good landing areas below. A great way to try hang gliding a go is to experience a tandem flight with an experiences pilot.
