Introducing Kazakhstan

It is no surprise that Kazakhstan, ranked ninth largest country in the world, is a place of huge diversity in its culture, landscape and people. Also known as the world’s largest landlocked country, Kazakhstan stretches from Siberia to the deserts of Turkmenistan, and from China to the Caspian Sea. The country is mostly situated in central Asia, though also partly located in Europe as it is enclosed by five countries, including Russia and China. The topography is very diverse, comprising flatlands, canyons, hills, deserts and snow-capped mountains, making it an ideal place for many adventure activities. Russians and Germans. People of Kazakhstan speak Kazakh, although Russian is also spoken in some parts.
Kazakhstan experiences a mostly continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Temperatures are mild in spring and autumn but rise up remarkably in the hottest month, July. The country enjoys mostly dry weather, but does experience snowfall from November though April in the mountainous regions. Interestingly, Kazakhstan covers two time zones and five climatic zones. The country is divided into 14 provinces, and the two cities of Almaty and Astana are regarded separately. The largest city, Almaty, is situated in the south-easten part, in a beautiful setting between mountains and plains. The city boasts modern architecture, fountains, parks and squares as well as spectacular mountain views in spring and autumn.

Multi-Activity

Kazakhstan’s diversity affords it a wealth of adventure activities, trips and excursions. The best way to see and do it all is on a multi-activity holiday. On this once-in-a-lifetime experience you can take a helicopter ride over some of the most spectacular glaciers in the world. You can also white-water raft on the Chui River, cycle and horse ride through the Celestial mountains and experience real Kazakh life with nomads and eagle hunters. Such trips as these let you experience equal amounts of activity and culture in this vast, overwhelming land - you’ll get to see this remote part of the world in a way most tourists can’t imagine.

Classic Itineraries

Kazakhstan offers everything in great scale: Mountain tops, sparkling glaciers, huge rocky canyons and beautiful mountain lakes that boast a uniquely diverse flora and fauna. Eco-tours are a great route to these sights. Former capital city, Almaty, has a wide selection of modern entertainment venues including theatres, museums, art galleries as well a buzzing nightlife and restaurant scene. Medea, a picturesque valley just 15km from the city, is home to one of the largest and most unusual ice-skating rinks in the world, situated at 1,700m above sea level. The vastness of the country makes it a daunting visit, as there's so much to see. Helicopter rides and other excursions beginning in Almaty and Astana help solve this problem.

Other Activities

As a trans-continental country, Kazakhstan prides itself on its rich cultural variety. Sights to discover include the Palace of Peace and Harmony in Astana, a 77m high pyramid that hosts the Congress of Leaders of the World. The country is home to many religions and faiths, and beautiful mosques, temples and churches show off the country’s diverse architecture. The Burabay National Park is known as the pearl of Kazakhstan and is one of many nature reserves and sanctuaries that help showcase the country’s beautiful scenery. This country can accommodate any activity in any landscape that the intrepid explorer desires, including white-water rafting, mountain biking, hiking and trekking.
