The Club Mistral centre is located directly in front of the Belorizonte Hotel right on the superb, endless beach of Santa Maria on the island of Sal. We have by far the best location in the bay of Santa Maria, because it offers the finest of sandy beach and boundless space. You will find all kinds of amenities, ranging from lots of room, a boutique, to the Atlantis bar/restaurant and an internet cafe doubling as an ice-cream parlour.
The bay is at the southern end of the island of Sal and the long, fine-grained sandy beach extends over more than 4 kilometers. Due to their position within the winter trade-wind belt, the Cape Verde Islands boast perfect windsurfing conditions from October to June.
The location is extremely varied: in front of the centre, the water is a little choppy with a slight shorebreak. If the shorebreak becomes somewhat stronger, the team will help you carry your material in and out of the water. Sail past the jetty from here, in-between a number of small fishing boats, and you will enter the Santa Maria speed track, where you can blast away to your heart's content or gybe through the turquoise water. Further out, there is a swell for wave novices. The cross-offshore or sideshore wind from the left allows effortless upwind sailing to the various sections of the beach. From the Club Mistral centre, you can reach two fantastic wave spots directly from the flat-water section: Ponta Leme upwind, and Ponta Sino downwind. They offer every opportunity for you to let off steam in the waves.
Once a week, we organize windsurfing excursions for wave freaks to the island's other wave spots.

Another very friendly guesthouse in the village of Santa Maria. This place is for all who are travelling on a lower budget and like it simple.
Nha Terra
This friendly little private hotel is situated at one end of the village of Santa Maria and is about five minutes' walk from the beach. The
Nha Terra has 15 rooms, most of them on the first floor.
Morabeza
In our opinion the most beautiful hotel on the beach of Sal and only a few steps away from our Club Mistral/Skyriders Centre.
Hotel Novorizonte/Belorizonte
Directly beside the Club Mistral/Skyriders station, this hotel looks out over miles of sandy beach and is approx. 10 minutes' walk from the centre of the village of Santa Maria.

It is virtually impossible to get lost on your way from Almilcar Cabral Airport to Santa Maria, where the Club Mistral and Skyriders centre is located; after all, there is only a single road on the island, running in a north/south direction.
If you take a taxi, give Santa Maria Hotel Belorizonte as your destination (the price should not exceed 2000 Cape Verdean escudos). The surfing centre is on the beach in front of the hotel and impossible to miss!
If you have a rental car, simply drive in the direction of Santa Maria in the southern part of the island (a distance of about 20 km). Before entering the town, follow the sign marked "Hotel Belorizonte / Djad Sal".
The Club Mistral and Skyriders centre is located on the beach of the Hotel Belorizonte, housed in a strangely shaped complex painted in blue.
