Both Club Mistral centres are right on the white, sandy beach, which forms a wide bay near Punta Paloma (dunes) after about 10 kilometres. Wind forces of 8 can easily be reached on 'big days'. In summer, the prevailing wind is the levante (side-offshore), which comes from the east, while autumn and spring are mainly dominated by the poniente (sideshore to side-onshore), which hails from the west. In the off-season, you can easily switch between the centres.
Club Mistral centre Hurricane:
At the Club Mistral centre Hurricane, the water is flat to choppy in summer; biggish waves (2 metres) only occur from autumn to spring. There is a shorebreak only when the wind is onshore (poniente). At the Hurricane Hotel venue, the shore area is somewhat protected from the wind, but after that, surfing in the levante (side-offshore) is superb. Depending on the tide, there may be some rocks when you are launching and exiting.
Club Mistral centre Las Dunas:
There is no disputing the fact that our Club Mistral centre Las Dunas in the Valdevaqueros Hotel is the best windsurfing spot at Tarifa. The centre and the hotel are surrounded by a park, with the fabulous, wide sandy beach, which traces the gentle curve of the bay and extends as far as the dunes, in front of them. Depending on the wind force, the protected bay provides optimum instruction conditions for all skills levels. The shorebreak may be slightly stronger only in autumn, if the wind is onshore (poniente). Beginners' instruction depends on wind conditions and may not always be possible.

Directions
Route Malaga - Tarifa
Leave the airport, taking the E-IV motorway in the direction of Algeciras/cadiz. There are now two stretches subject to a toll(€E 10 ); they shorten the trip considerably as compared with the normal motorway, which takes approx. 35 minutes more.
From Algeciras, continue in the direction of Cadiz on the N-340, passing through some mountainous terrain; after about 20 km, Tarifa can be seen ahead.
To get to the windsurf centre, drive on past the town of Tarifa and after about 10 km the Hurricane Hotel centre can be seen on the left. After a further 5 km, turn left at the 100% Fun Hotel and continue on to the Valdevaqueros Hotel and the Club Mistral centre.
Route Jerez - Tarifa
On leaving the airport, take the N-IV in the direction of Cadiz/algeciras; after bypassing the town of Jerez, take the new Puerto Real motorway. From there, continue once more on the N-IV via Vejer to Tarifa. If you approach from this side, you will see the Club Mistral centre at the Valdevaqueros Hotel first, which will now be on the right; another 5 km and you will reach the HURRICANE HOTEL, once more on the right. If you are coming from Jerez, you will pass the Tarifa beaches first and reach the town last.
