Adventurous Stag and Hen Weekends have been on the upsurge for a while now... and quite rightly so! Isn't it meant to be the last opportunity to kick up your heels before settling down to married life? It's a chance to gather all your closest mates, and bask in their friendship and loyalty while having a laugh.

However you define it, Stag and Hen weekends are no longer confined to the nearest seaside town, and dodgy fancy dress themes and the consumption of copious alcoholic beverages are not compulsory - although there might be a bit of drinking! Nowadays, you and your band of brothers, or sisters, can travel all over the UK, or even further a field, and line up the unforgettable experiences for what should be one of the most memorable weekends of your life.

Planning

Once you've chosen the trusty chums that will join you on your Stag or Hen break, you need to choose the length of time that you want to spend with them, how far from home your dare to be taken, and what activities you want to amuse yourselves with.

Two to four days is the most popular duration for this type of break. And recently, more and more people are choosing to go abroad than stay at home. If you have a favourite sport why not devise your break around it? Pick a location that will be great for newbies, and help improve the skills of your group's more experienced members. Kitesurfing, Surfing and Skiing would all be great when you have a mixed group all after some fun.

Alternatively, you could all start on a level footing and choose a completely new sport or activity. And if you are spending a few days together then multi-activity breaks are also a wise choice. Why not thank your friends for their support, and show your appreciation by waging war against them in a Spanish paintball field, or get a complete soaking on white water rapids in the Czech Republic? You could even take them tank driving in the Leicestershire countryside or on a sub-zero husky safari in Sweden.

Costs

Costs obviously depend on where you choose to travel, how long you go away for, and what activities you choose to do. Night time entertainment is not usually included in activity packages - something you should consider when you budget for your drinks and food. Accommodation when travelling overseas is usually included in the activity package cost, which makes it easy for large groups wanting to stay together. However, travel – either domestic or international - is not usually part of the deal. So, as well as the advertised activity price, you need to be thinking about your flights and these additional expenses.
