Trekking is basically walking but a little more hardcore. Often it involves hiking in mountainous areas, carry gear for overnight camping and covering long distances over anything from a day or two to a few weeks. It is difficult to distinguish trekking from walking but for the purpose of our site the difference is that trekking involves staying in a different place each night and normally carrying your gear whilst walking is done from a set location that you return to each day. Some iconic treks include Everest Base Camp trek, Inca Trail in Peru, Annapurna Circuit in Nepal, Trekking in the Jungles of Borneo or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania the highest trekkable peak in the world. Europe is great for trekking with most countries having a range of Trekking options to suit beginners to the most experiences of trekkers. Take a look at our Trekking Holidays for inspiration.
